Hey Atlas 03:58
When you were young You thought that the world Depended on you To be what it was You found out with time That all your pretense Was never enough To understand Hey Atlas, now you’re older Take the weight of the world Off of your shoulders Now the nights are getting colder Stop painting yourself into a corner You don’t have to tell me I understand Won’t bury my head Under the sand The things that I say The things that I do Should be enough For me to pull through Hey Atlas, now you’re older Take the weight of the world Off of your shoulders Now the nights are getting colder Stop painting yourself into a corner I am alive No longer afraid I feel awake No matter the pain I know there’s a light That will be on And I don’t care To know for how long Hey Atlas, now you’re older Take the weight of the world Off of your shoulders Now the nights are getting colder Stop painting yourself into a corner

I am waiting here in line To see if you’re OK If the blood flowing from that gash Has dried up on your face And if they break us all, we won’t go back We’ll roam the streets again And if they break us all, we can’t turn back We will light up the day I am sitting by the stairs With my head held in my heads Sitting still with not much to gain And much to lose instead And if they break us all, we can’t go back Break us all so we will turn back And if they break us all, we can’t go back We will wake up the dead They just put us on a line I see you fall again Fifty blows straight on the head, it wasn’t no mistake And if they break us all, we won’t go back We’ll roam the streets again And if they break us all, we can’t turn back We will light up the day

about

After the first single The Electric Muse, which has been aired on radios in three continents,
Monoscopes return with Hey Atlas. The new song will be released on January 5th, 2024 by Big Black Car Records, and is also part of the band's second album Endcyclopedia, due out on January 26th, 2024.

Hey Atlas is an antidote to anxiety. Sometimes the complexity of life leads us to feel all of the weight of the world on our shoulders, like the mythological character that gives the song its title. But you can drop that weight, or you can at least try.

The song melts the gospel psychedelia of Spiritualized with R.E.M. folk balladry and Big Star’s power pop melodies. The end result is a song both meditative and uplifting, with a catchy melody and a soaring chorus.

The single is accompanied by a video shot by Samuele Gottardello (aka Blak Sagaan), and a virtual B-side, On the Line (Light up the Day), a song inspired by a famous case of police brutality in Italy.

about

Monoscopes Padua, Italy

We got lost in noise and melody a long time ago, and we have been trying to come back to reality ever since.

---

Ci siamo persi nel rumore e nella melodia molto tempo fa. Da allora stiamo cercando di tornare alla realtà.
